Horseback Riding In Northern California

Our team of expert wranglers is well-versed in getting Greenhorns of every kind in the arena. We provide horseback riding lessons for all ages, daily trail rides for the whole family, skills development, and more. Guests can also participate in weekly rodeo games on horseback or just sit back and enjoy the show. Our stock of more than 60 horses know and love our endless trails and vistas.

FISHING

Our two ponds are well stocked with fish for Greenhorns. We provide traditional poles, for all ages to cast out. For the fly fisher who wants to improve we offer specific weekend clinics from world renown guides. There is nothing like watching someone catch a fish for the first time.

EVENTS

Roasting Marshmallows around a campfire is a favorite family pastime at the ranch but we want to teach you some new traditions. Bullfrog races, rodeo games, stargazing, chuckwagon cookouts, line dancing, fishing derbies, and water balloon fights are just a few of the events you can expect during your stay. Seasonal activities might include snowshoe tours or Fall foliage hikes. Self-guided nature walks with our library of field guides and whiskey tasting at the lodge are always on rotation.

TRAILS

With 660 acres at Greenhorn Ranch, we have well-marked trails for plenty of exploration. Nestled in the Plumas National Forest, we encourage you to get to know the area. Hikes to remote peaks in this region always offer a high-altitude lake for a refreshing dip. Pack a picnic and explore the trails in Lakes Basin or meander the roads through the tiny historic towns like Johnsville, Twain (population 82), and Belden. Remember when you thought California was overpopulated? We’ll help you lose them in the Lost Sierra. Our staff are all ready to be your guide to trails of every ability and purpose – to rip brown pow on your mountain bike or to find a multi-generational day trip.

Originally drawn by gold then lumber, the modern mass migration to Plumas County is centered around summer fun and golf. Within a 20-minute drive are world-renowned courses that invite both the prestigious and the periodic golfers alike.
