Missing Greenhorn Ranch? The lodge is open for B&B overnight stays through April 2021 (learn more)

Our Team

Greenhorns from all over come back because of the incredible service and long-time friendships they build on the ranch. None of this would be possible if it weren’t for the experienced wranglers and dedicated staff who continue to return to Greenhorn Ranch year after year. These folks make up the fabric that is Greenhorn Ranch and we wouldn’t be here without them. Here are just a few of the characters every Greenhorn should know.

Jill Rivoli

General Manager

The first thing that stands out when meeting Jill is her true authenticity. One immediately gets a sense of connecting with a lifelong friend. Jill‘s expansive career has always led back to the core of who she is, a person whose passion is having a positive impact on the people around her and making a difference in their lives. As an Equine Assisted Learning facilitator, she has helped thousands of people in professional and personal self-discovery, growth, and connectedness. She founded her own EAL business New Perspectives, focusing on the wonderful insight that comes from learning with horses to facilitate personal development, leadership, team building, mindful living, and healing. Jill’s mission has always been to help create meaningful experiences for those around her, wanting them to walk away thinking “wow, that was amazing!”. Her particular area of focus is building strong, effective teams. Jill’s career is varied and interesting and reflects her passion for living in beautiful places and for serving others; She’s been an archaeologist in Hawaii, director of multiple non-profit organizations focused on reading and youth development, she’s held director-level positions at multiple resorts (Miraval, Carmel Valley Ranch, Alisal Guest Ranch, and Resort), she’s managed the riding programs at Eagle Crest Resort, Black Butte Ranch, The Running Y Ranch, Sunriver Resort, Silver Falls YMCA, and the B Bar Ranch in Emigrant, Montana. We are proud to have her (and her dogs, Cedar and Gus, and horse, Batman!) leading the way for the Greenhorn Ranch team.

Cynthia Carreon is our Wonder Woman! She keeps the Greenhorn running smoothly and handles Human Resources, Accounting, Housekeeping, Activities, Front Desk, Reservations, and is our staff wedding planner. She’s been a Greenhorn for twelve years and her organization and sense of humor keep the staff on their toes and laughing.

Head Wrangler

Hey Y’all meet Josh our head wrangler. Hailing from the Santa Ynez Valley, he was born to be in hospitality. His greatest satisfaction comes from providing our guests with amazing experiences that they can remember for a lifetime! You’ll know he’s in your presence when you hear his unmistakable laugh.

Administrative Support Manager

Aya spent her formative years growing up on the east coast but fell in love with the beauty of the west coast. She loves the Greenhorn and is grateful to live and work at this hidden gem tucked in the Sierra Mountains. Aya says “my home is someone else’s vacation getaway!”. In her spare time she enjoys hiking all of the beautiful trails and exploring the lakes and rivers with her two children and her dog, Hawk.

Executive Chef

Raised in the small town of Quincy, not 15 miles from the Greenhorn. Brendan grew up on garden fresh vegetables and scratch cooked dinners.

While in college for automotive tech, ramen was getting old. As Brendan started cooking for himself and roommates, he realized a passion.

After years of hard work, and intensive study, Brendan brings his experience to the ranch. With a strong focus on local and farm to table, he and his team create classic and unique dishes to be enjoyed. With a solid focus on service and “the experience” our team will give you dining events to be remembered. Come experience some of the lost Sierra’s finest. We can’t wait to serve you.

Activities Director

Meet Scott! He’s 29 and is from central western Missouri and is an Eagle Scout. He has a background in communications and a masters in film-making from the University of Montana. Scott’s professional goal is to continue traveling the world and to continue bonding and capturing the stories of his fellow travelers. If you visit the ranch you’ll always know him by  wearing his fishing hat and his big smile, as he is always aiming to please.

Staff was always so helpful and courteous, beautiful sights and the horse back riding was amazing. Rode with two of my adult children and it was memorable. Loved it!!!
